The Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences invites you to a guest lecture delivered by Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson (Mid Sweden University, Sweden), an internationally recognized expert in forest ecology and conservation biology.
In his scientific work, Prof. B.-G. Jonsson focuses on forest history, dynamics, and biodiversity, with particular attention to landscape ecology—green infrastructure, species viability, and ecosystem services. His research is distinguished by its ability to link fundamental science with practical application, promoting evidence-based conservation policy at both national and international levels.
In the guest lecture “The nature restoration regulation – why, what and where to restore forests”, the professor will address the timely issue of forest restoration in Europe: why it is needed, which forests should be prioritized for restoration, and how to identify the most effective approaches in different ecological and political contexts. The lecture will provide insight into the latest scientific findings and their relevance for policymaking, especially in light of the European Union’s nature restoration initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for students, researchers, and industry professionals to gain a deeper understanding of forest ecology and its role in sustainable development, and to discuss these issues with one of the leading experts in the field.
We invite you to take this opportunity to broaden your perspective and join the discussion on the future of forests!
