August 8 – The traditional dance mini-festival "Mazā Rijas Balle" will take place. The evening programme will feature a performance by the UL Folk dance group Dandari at 7 PM. More information about the event.
August 10, 7.30 PM – The UL Student Theatre will present the performance "Socrates' Last Night" at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Latvia (Visvalža Street 4a)
Synopsis: Socrates' Last Night follows the philosopher during the final night before his execution—a time when, awaiting dawn and the carrying out of his sentence, he is confronted with timeless questions about the freedom of choice. As Socrates prepares to accept his fate, his wife secretly arranges his escape, while the prison guard who agrees to help pursues his own long-unfulfilled dream.
August 14–19 – UL Folk dance group Dandari will participate in the Internationaal Folklorefestival Westerlo in Belgium, where traditional dance masters and musicians from around the world will gather. More information about the event.
August 29 – The UL Student Theatre will perform "Socrates' Last Night" at the Festival Internacional de Teatre Amateur de Girona (Girona International Amateur Theatre Festival). Held annually in Girona, Spain, the festival brings together independent and amateur theatre companies from across the globe. More information about the event.
August 30 – Latvia's largest student celebration, Aristotelis, will take place. As every year, artistic groups from the UL Culture Centre will participate. This year, the UL Mixed Choir Dziesmuvara and the UL Wind Orchestra will perform.
August 31, 11 AM–2 PM – Meet the UL Culture Centre at UL Student Day and discover which artistic group is right for you!
New students will have the opportunity to explore UL faculties and administrative units, learn about the support services available to students—including career counselling and psychological support—discover how the UL Library works, visit the UL Museum, and much more. Faculties will present their unique opportunities, while special workshops led by UL Vice-Rectors and other specialists will offer participants the chance to gain new knowledge and practical skills. Workshops and meetings with UL academic staff will also be valuable for continuing students, so everyone is welcome to attend.

This academic year, every student from University of Latvia is invited to join one of our diverse groups: choirs, dance and vocal ensembles, folklore groups, the orchestra, and the ceramics studio.
UL Mixed Choir JUVENTUS is recruiting new singers in all voice parts. Join us!
Auditions will take place on July 29, July 30, and September 2, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at the University of Latvia, 19 Raiņa Boulevard. Interested members are asked to complete the registration form in advance.
- UL Mixed Choir DZIESMUVARA will hold auditions for new singers on September 1 and 3.
- Folk Dance Ensemble DANCIS will welcome new dancers on August 24 and 27, and September 7 and 9.
